Rough Diamond

Diamonds is the hardest material on the earth; it is the beautiful stone that is formed deep within the earth in the depth of 100 km to 200 km beneath the surface of the earth. There, the temperature is about 900 to 1300 C, and the diamond formulation exists with the pressure between 45 to 60 kilobars. (KB). It is very surprising that diamond was carried to the surface of the earth by volcanic eruptions. The movement of this eruption is very fast, the speed is about hundreds km/hour. If the speed of eruption is slow, diamond will convert to graphite. Diamond is formed only one element, called Carbon which is the same graphite is, but the harness of two types of stone are very different because of their structure of carbon; the structure of linking of carbon in the diamond are three-dimensional network, while in graphite carbon link together by structure of sheets. In the earth we found a lot of graphite rock that has no diamond; the rock that has diamond in it, known as kimberlite rock, the researcher always found diamond on the kimberlite rock every country. Besides using in jewelry, diamond are used in industry also such as for drills, saws, and other cutting tools because of its hardness.
